Company · About
holdway is the boring, verifiable alternative to improvised custody. We hold institutional digital assets in segregated, insured, audited accounts — and we can prove it.
Why holdway exists
Client assets commingled with house funds. Keys held by whoever set up the wallet. Controls that lived in a spreadsheet, or in someone's head. When this industry lost client money, it was rarely exotic cryptography that failed — it was improvised operations.
We started holdway to build the alternative: custody where segregation is structural, not promised; where every control is written down, enforced in software, and checked by a third party; and where a client never has to take our word for anything. The result is deliberately unexciting. That is the point.

These are not values-poster words. Each one is a constraint we design and hire against, and each one costs us something to keep.

We are a small, senior team of custody operators, security engineers, and infrastructure people. Before holdway, we ran clearing and settlement operations, built market infrastructure, and managed key-material lifecycles at institutions where mistakes were not recoverable.
That background shows up in the details: dual control on anything that touches client assets, key ceremonies run from written runbooks, and a standing rule that no single person — including a founder — can move funds alone. If that sounds like the team you want holding your assets, we're hiring.
How we operate
We operate under a qualified-custodian framework with clear regulatory standing — the full picture, including our licensing posture and policies, is documented on our compliance page.
Assets in custody are covered by a comprehensive insurance program; what is covered, by whom, and to what limits is spelled out under insurance. And because claims are cheap, we pay for scrutiny: SOC 2 Type II attestation, independent penetration tests, and continuous monitoring, year after year.
Milestones
We measure progress by what a client can verify, not by announcements. Every milestone below added something an auditor or a treasurer can check.
Coverage of these milestones, along with brand assets and a fact sheet, lives on our press page. Current platform health is always visible on status.
